The Salvation Army is steeped in Music History. As a matter of fact, The Salvation Army is knows for being the largest producer of written music in the world. This rich musical culture has spread to the Big Rapids Corps. Recently, Salvation Army church members took part in the first of many band practices. The band which consisted mainly of brass and wind instruments also included a drum player to keep the beat.

The band will primarily play on Sunday mornings, during worship services. However, there are plans for the group to play for the public in the future. Anyone that is interested in participating in the brass band should contact Envoys Ed and Theresa Hoskins by calling 231-796-5597. If you you would like to hear the band play, visit on Sunday mornings at 11am for worship service at 325 Linden St. Big Rapids, MI. Church Services at The Salvation Army are open to the public.
